For Chinese New Year, NBA creates origami versions of Stephen Curry and Jeremy Lin

Tiny all-stars celebrate the year of the rooster while shooting hoops on a coffee table

This year, Chinese New Year begins on January 28, and the NBA wants in. As part of a global marketing campaign, "This is Why We Play," the league worked with The Marketing Arm for a new spot that commemorates the Year of the Rooster. In "Secret Envelope," a son opens a traditional envelope, and out pops origami versions of Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Brooklyn Nets’ Jeremy Lin, Houston Rockets’ James Harden and New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, who begin to a tiny basketball game. The 30-second spot will run for a month on all NBA TV, social and online properties. For the past two years, the same players have starred in similar NBA ads centered on the holiday—"Dining Table" and "Surprise Door."
