The Children's Society reveals shocking reality of child sexual exploitation

The Children's Society has launched an online video exposing the harsh reality of child sexual exploitation.

The ad by VCCPme shows a teenage girl in her bedroom upset after she had been abused by a number of other boys she had met on the street. She had just celebrated her 15th birthday.

The spot shows her youth with a wall chart marking significant milestones such as being tall enough to ride a roller-coaster.

The film adds to the direct response part of the campaign which began at the beginning of the month.

The charity said that "huge numbers" of sex crimes against teenagers across England and Wales went unreported last year because the victim is scared of not being believed and suspicious of the justice system.

The film has been directed by Sam Miller, who also directed Luther, through Mustard London.

Matthew Reed, the chief executive at The Children’s Society, said: "VCCPme has made a powerful video helping us bring this urgent issue to the screen.

"This video is vital to our being able to draw attention to what child sexual exploitation really is and raise the crucial funds we need to make sure we can help these children and keep more safe from being sexually exploited in the first place."
