Children's Society call in Publicis for DRTV debut

LONDON - The Children's Society has appointed Publicis Dialog to launch its first direct-response TV campaign with an emotive execution from The Streets video director Adam Smith.

Publicis and acclaimed director Smith, who worked on The Streets' video 'Blinded by the Lights', created the 60-second spot, which follows a young girl who finds herself on the streets with no where to go when life at home becomes unbearable -- highlighting the charity's work with some of the UK's most vulnerable children.

The closing shot features The Children's Society logo and strapline "With children, for children, with you". The voiceover is delivered by actress and The Children's Society supporter Julie Walters.

Publicis' Laura Auchterlonie was the copywriter, while Schnoosee Bailey art directed.

The ad will break at the end of March on terrestrial and satellite stations, aiming to secure one-off donations and monthly direct debit donors.

The activity will form part of a wider marketing campaign, which will include a national door-drop.

Separately, the charity is seeking a media planning agency and planning the fundraising and awareness drive to mark its 125th anniversary.
