was originally launched by a fan 11 years ago and taken in-house in 1997. It is now run by Chelsea Digital Media (CDM), a subsidiary of the club's holding company, Chelsea Village, which was set up to exploit the Chelsea brand through both digital and traditional channels.
It is now seeking an agency to refresh the site's offering, although CDM will continue handling its day-to-day running. Chelseafc.com features news, interviews and club and ticket information.
The club has introduced several digital innovations over recent years.
Last May it introduced a branded broadband service, offering fans who signed up a year's free subscription to Chelsea TV Online. This service launched four years ago and comprises eight channels, which show a mix of match highlights, archive footage and club news.
Last month the club hired direct agency MC&C to boost traffic to its website and increase the number of subscribers to its Chelsea TV satellite channel, which has 30,000 customers.
In October last year, the club launched Chelsea Now, a service that streams goal alerts and match images to fans' mobile phones. The pictures, taken by Press Association photographers, are also posted on the club website.
CDM, which is a joint venture between Chelsea Village and BSkyB, was founded in 2001. It handles the club's online and satellite TV and mobile offerings.
