The Princes Trust senior head of events Caitlin Kennedy was speaking at the Concerto Group's first Event Focus 2009 at Old Billingsgate on 1 December. During a talk called ‘Beyond the Black Tie Ball', she said the Princes Trust was hosting a ball at the Hurlingham Club in March for £300 a ticket.
Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK's PR and campaigns manager Paul Pennington also said it had created a smaller social event rather than a ball for next year as pharmaceutical companies are also cutting back on spending for events.
The news comes as PricewaterhouseCoopers estimated charities could end up with about £2.3 billion or around four per cent less than they expected to have in 2009. Britain is home to around 190,000 charities, together, they raised a total of £47 billion over the 12 months through to 1 December.
Other seminars included in the ISES Education Forum workshops included ‘Career Advice and CV Surgery' presented by Xchange Team, motivational talks from Frank Furness about ‘How to Gain, Train, and Maintain a Successful Workforce' and Derek Arden on ‘Negotiating through a Recession: Success in Uncertain Times'.
The Concerto Group also showcased its venues in London and the South East including the launch of The Artillery Garden at the HAC and The Garden Room in Syon Park.
There were also feature areas from Dance Heads, that gave visitors the opportunity to have their picture turned into a hologram 'Get Flipped' card, and music from Ronnie Scott's Rejects.
