Channel 4 taps content with animation site

LONDON - Channel 4 is to launch a new website devoted to animation, offering budding animators the opportunity to upload their films and providing Channel 4 with a source of new animation commissions.

The commercially-funded public broadcaster has commissioned award-winning studio Aardman and independent producer Lupus Films to develop the new site. A test site will be launched this summer, followed by a full launch in the autumn.

The website, 4mations, will allow animators to view and vote on the latest animations, upload videos and secure commissions to create new work.

4mations launches at the British Animation Awards, of which Channel 4 is a sponsor, with a call to action for the animation industry to register interest at www.4mations.tv.
