Channel 4 hires Loosemore to head 4iP

LONDON - Channel 4 has appointed Ofcom's senior adviser for digital media, Tom Loosemore, to head its efforts to develop public service digital media.

Loosemore, who previously worked at the BBC, will take on the role of head of Four Innovation for the Public Fund and report into Jon Gisby, Channel 4 director of new media and technology.

Four Innovation for the Public Fund, also known as 4iP, was introduced by Channel 4 chief executive Andy Duncan this year as part of the broadcaster's plans to provide a range of public service-oriented content and to position its future in the digital age.

Loosemore spent around at year at Ofcom, with a brief to develop its plans for its public service publisher project, which has since been dropped.

Prior to his time at Ofcom, Loosemore held several roles at the BBC, including producer for BBC news interactive, head of broadband, acting controller of BBCi development and head of strategic innovation.
