Centrum backs golf link with viral game

Multivitamin brand Centrum is launching a viral golfing game to back its sponsorship of professional UK golfer Lee Westwood.

The interactive game was developed by digital agency Skive Creative and commissioned by sports sponsorship and licensing agency Player One, which handles Westwood's sponsorship opportunities.

Called Putt and Win (www.centrum.co.uk/puttandwin), the game features audio encouragement from the golfer himself. Players are challenged to beat Westwood's putting scores on nine greens from tournaments including The Masters, US Open, The Open, USA PGA and The Ryder Cup.

The game urges users to build their score and achieve the 'Feelgood factor' - Centrum's strapline - and win entry to a series of prize draws, which will correspond with dates of golfing events.

The game will be distributed on both golf and general sports sites, such as Talksport.net and Golfism.net, and through Westwood's official web site, www.lee-westwood.co.uk.

"The one element missing from the consumer campaign surrounding the sponsorship of Lee was the online element,

said Jamie Evans, account manager at Player One.

"We wanted to create a game that reinforced Centrum's association with Lee, while being a fun way of getting across Centrum's core brand values."

As well as Centrum, healthcare company Whitehall Laboratories produces brands such as Anadin, Bisodol and Chap Stick.
