
Approximately 900 people are expected to attend the multisport awards judged by the Laureus World Sports Academy, which is made up of 47 legendary sportsmen and sportswomen.
This year’s nominees, 85% of whom typically attend the ceremony, include Usain Bolt, Novak Djokovic, Rory McIlroy and the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team.
The set for the ceremony will take a week to construct in Central Hall’s Great Hall space. The streets around the venue will be closed on the day of the ceremony as a red carpet is rolled out. Fast Track Agency will manage production and catering will be provided by Kudos.
Central Hall managing director Paul Southern said: "I am a massive sport fan and this event is the most prestigious ceremony on the world sporting calendar. The guest list of international stars from every sport is incredible and we cannot wait to show the rest of the world our spectacular and flexible venue."
Southern told Event that a host for the awards couldn't yet be announced but it was "someone of the same ilk" as previous hosts, which have included John McEnroe and Cuba Gooding Jr. The event was hosted by Kevin Spacey and held at the Emirates Palace in for the last two years.

Proceeds from the awards support the work of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which funds 89 community sports projects worldwide.
