Celador hires Laughton to head children's programming

LONDON - 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' producer Celador International has appointed Cathy Laughton to head its new children's programming division.

Laughton, a former managing director at Nelvana Enterprises who has held senior posts at HIT Entertainment and the Jim Henson Company, will be responsible for sales of the company's children's programming and will develop new programme acquisitions.

Laughton takes up her new post at the beginning of February.

Adrian Woolfe, managing director of Celador International, said: "Cathy's extensive knowledge of children's programming, combined with her creative development skills and worldwide distribution experience, make her the perfect choice for Celador International's new kids division."

Celador decided to launch Celador International Kids after securing the rights to children's programmes 'Roobarb & Custard' and 'Tales of the Riverbank' last year.

The 'Millionaire' and 'You Are What You Eat' producer hopes to become a major player in the children's entertainment industry and will be hiring a team to work under Laughton later in the year.
