Taking place on the opening weekend of the championships, the sport-oriented event will feature physical and creative activities to evoke the atmosphere of the Beijing games and inspire children's enthusiasm for sport.
Children can try their hand at various athletics events on the outdoor running track in the Blue Peter Sports Badge Zone. An agility zone will offer target throwing, sprints and long jump. Additionally, the family-friendly Shaun the Sheep championships will bring a competitive aspect to the event.
Alongside sporting opportunities, the Summer Sportarama will immerse children in the cultural atmosphere of the games through craft. CBBC’s Art Ninja will host a Chinese-inspired creative area, where children can design dragon puppets, theatre masks and calligraphy lanterns.
For younger children, CBeebies’ sports-themed area will host crafts and story time.
Budding TV personalities can experience the world of presenting with CBBC sports show Kickabout, and they will have the chance to meet various CBBC presenters.
Lindsey Russell, Blue Peter presenter, said: "While the IAAF World Athletics Championships may be taking part on the other side of the world, the CBBC Summer Sportarama gives young people a fantastic opportunity to experience the excitement of the competition right here in the North West."
The event will take place at MediaCity UK in Salford, Manchester, from 10am-5pm across the weekend.
