Cathay Pacific announces head of sales and marketing

Cathay Pacific Airways has appointed former British Airways executive Roberto Abbondio as its new head of sales and marketing.

Abbondio replaces Eric Odone and will report directly to Angus Barclay, general manager, Europe.

He will be responsible for all of the airline's online and offline sales, and marketing activity in the UK and Ireland.

Abbondio joins Cathay Pacific from his previous executive distribution role at hostelbookers.com and anytrip.com.

He has 10 years' experience in the travel industry and has previously held roles at British Airways and Expedia.

Angus Barclay, general manager, Europe, said: "Roberto brings a wealth of experience which I know will benefit the team and our sales and marketing efforts.

"His enthusiastic and passionate character will be a real asset in driving strategic approaches to further raise brand awareness."

Last year, the Hong Kong based airline launched an iPad app for its customers, allowing them to view flight information, book flights, check in and view city guide information for more than 70 destinations.
