The deal with Uefa ensures Canon will gain significant television exposure via onscreen credits that will appear during tournament matches.
The brand, famous for its cameras, printers and other imaging equipment, will exploit its sponsorship by showcasing its products in media centres and providing camera and lens maintenance service for professional photographers attending Euro 2008.
Canon will have a presence in the Official Fan Zones to be set up in central public spaces at the eight cities hosting the tournament across Switzerland and Austria. It will also participate in the Uefa Euro Experience roadshow events that will tour both countries during the tournament.
Canon has been a football sponsor for almost 30 years, involved with other Uefa tournaments including the Uefa Champions League and Euro 2004, as well as sponsoring consecutive World Cup tournaments between 1978 and 1998.
It presently sponsors Uefa Cup Final matches, the Uefa Super Cup and the MTN Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Ghana in 2008, in addition to the Russian Premier Football League.
Hajime Tsuruoka, president and CEO of Canon Europe, said: "Football is a highly visual and empowering sport and we are delighted to extend our long-term association with football by strengthening our partnership with UEFA."
