World Gifts are designed to provide two gifts in one -- a life-changing gift for someone in the developing world and an unusual gift for a loved one.
The press ads, created by direct marketing agency DMS, feature World Gifts such as school starter kits and worms for composting as meaningful presents to give children at Easter.
The campaign launches on March 7, targeting readers of the Catholic press, and will drive donors to Cafod's .
Specific gifts for children include an illustrated story that shows kids how their present will help someone living in the developing world.
The appeal was traditionally a Christmas scheme but Cafod is expanding the offer to make it relevant at other times of year such as Easter, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays and anniversaries.
Pierre Fernandes, head of direct marketing and legacies at Cafod, said: "Last year World Gifts raised almost £2m to help people living in poverty. Therefore together with DMS, if we can make gifts relevant for other occasions within the year, we can continue raising funds and make a lasting difference to people in the developing world."
Greg Richardson, account director at DMS, said: "Cafod have been running World Gifts for four years at Christmas time. DMS' main objective is to expand the appeal of Cafod's World Gift scheme to other times of the year, in order to increase level of funds raised and widen the appeal of the scheme."
Cafod (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) is a member of Caritas International, a worldwide network of Catholic relief and development organisations. It works with more than 500 partners in some of the poorest communities of the world, listening to their needs and helping them find their own solutions.
