C4 reality show 'The Salon' breaks bikini world record

LONDON - Channel 4's reality television show 'The Salon' has found itself being something of a record breaker, as the show, set in a real-life beauty parlour, beats the world record for bikini waxing.

The show's Sarah Percival completed 140 waxes in four hours on air. She beat the current record holder Lareesa Guttery, an Australian who managed 130 waxes in four hours in July.

'The Salon', a reality show based in a beauty salon in London's Piccadilly, currently broadcasts for half an hour every weekday at 6pm on Channel 4 and live all day on E4. The 20-year-old from Middlesbrough is the show's senior beauty therapist.

"I'm absolutely over the moon to have beaten this world record. It's a great achievement for me, especially at this stage in my career, and I look forward to seeing my name in lights in the Guinness Book of Records," she said.

The record-breaking feat comes as Channel 4 considers the reality TV show as part of a programme package to replace its problem breakfast slot when 'RI:SE' is taken off the air in three months' time.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman said 'The Salon' in the mornings was one of a number of options that was being considered internally, but added it was not holding talks with production companies.

A decision is expected later this month, while the record-breaking bikini wax can be seen on E4.
