Friday's show saw the 12 housemates all getting to know each other before they were treated to their first shock as Channel 4 called contestants into the Diary Room and asked each to nominate someone to face the public vote for eviction.
The first nomination usually takes places after a week and a half. This year, with 12 rather than the previous 10, contestants 'Big Brother' has introduced nominations immediately with the first vote to take place on Friday.
The audience, which averaged at 6.9m, was the highest opening for a show since Big Brother began in 2000.
Anoushka, a 20-year-old nursery assistant, received the most nominations from housemates on Friday, followed by data manager Jon, 29; Liverpudlian marketing coordinator Scott, 27; and 23-year old waiter, Federico.
Anoushka, however, is likely to escape eviction as she is the favourite to win The Sun's £50,000 for the first couple to have sex on the show.
The housemate that receives most votes from the public will be evicted on this Friday's show.
Ratings for the show are expected to be high and media interest is already building as a number of tactics are being used to ensure the series is a bigger ratings winner than the previous three series.
Contestants are to be given access to a hidden bar and unlimited amounts of alcohol if they complete set tasks successfully.
Meanwhile, tabloid newspaper The Sun has offered a prize of £50,000 to the first heterosexual couple to have sex on the show.
This year's contestants are younger than in previous years. All are aged between 20 and 32 years old, whereas previous series have had a wider range of ages. This is expected to encourage more flirting among the housemates.
The housemates remain in the 'Big Brother' house for 12 weeks, with the winner picking up £70,000. Last year, 9m people tuned in to see Kate Lawler win.
