C4 digital media fund is delayed

LONDON - Channel 4 has confirmed that the launch of its £50m public service digital media fund - the Four Innovation for the Public (4IP) fund - has been delayed for several months.

C4 digital media fund is delayed

In April, Channel 4's director of new media and technology, Jon Gisby, told Media Week the broadcaster was on track to launch the new fund - which aims to invest in digital content projects - in the first week of July, with several projects in the pipeline.

But with the July date having now passed, Channel 4 has admitted that the fund will not now launch until September.

Speaking to the Scottish Broadcasting Commission, Channel 4 director of nations and regions Stuart Cosgrove said: "We are looking to officially launch in September.By then, hopefully, the contracts will all be in place."

A Channel 4 spokesman said: "It is such a huge project, it is taking longer than expected."
