how visitors used social media and blogs to openly criticise the three-day event, claiming it was badly organised, chaotic and cold.

The summit took place at the O2 Arena from 18-20 March, and featured Richard Branson and Lord Alan Sugar as keynote speakers. But the high-profile entrepreneurs were not enough to quell some visitor reactions. Amanda Hill, of the Social Media Café, blogged that seminars lacked substance, the venue was unsuitable and the entry fee did not offer value for money.

Blak Pearl spokeperson Greg Simpson told Event: "For our part we undoubtedly faced a major challenge brought about by the technical difficulties with registration and this certainly contributed to us failing to give the attendees the experience they expected on the first day. However, by the second day, we were able to rectify the main concerns - lack of signage and information - and there were no longer delays on arrival for registration."

Simpson said the company had "no control" over the temperature in the venue, adding they were "encouraged" by positive comments from visitors on day two and three.
