Burger King reinstates Angus range after horsemeat scandal

Burger King is to begin selling its Angus burgers for the first time since axing the range in January as a result of the horsemeat scandal.

Last month the brand revealed it had struck a deal with Kepak Group for the supply of British and Irish beef, due to traces of horsemeat being found in the company’s products.

Burger King then made the decision to destroy thousands of products as a "precaution", and .

, which, as part of its A-Z series of ads, ran a press campaign stating, "B is for the 100% British & Irish beef in our burgers."

Burger King will reinstate its Aberdeen Angus Beef Collection on menus across the UK from this week, including its Angus Classic, Angus Smoked Bacon & Cheddar and Angus Three Pepper burgers.

Guilherme Ruschel, director of marketing for North West Europe at Burger King said the brand is "proud to bring back 100% British and Irish beef" to its restaurants.

He added: "Our guests can continue to have every confidence in the provenance and high quality of the locally sourced and great tasting Aberdeen Angus beef burgers."
