Burger King hears pitches for £30m account

Burger King has conducted the UK round of pitching for its £30m pan-European media account and is set to make a decision on the winner by the end of June.

Incumbent Carat, Initiative and MindShare took part in the UK pitch, which is being carried out on a country-by-country basis, despite the fact that Burger King is hunting for a single network across Europe.

German agencies are due to contest the work this week. The review has been dragging on, with the shortlist initially revealed in January this year.

Progress may have been held up by changes in the marketing department, with Giorgio Minari promoted from the role of regional vice-president for Asia Pacific, to vice-president of the North-West European division, responsible for the UK and Nordic operations.

David Kisilevsky has also joined from Leo Burnett, where he worked on the McDonald’s account, as senior strategic marketing director for North-West Europe.

Carat has held the UK Burger King account since 2000. It is worth £10m annually, according to Nielsen Media Research.
