Christopher Bailey’s creation will be unveiled in the art deco lobby on 16 November. It will feature more than 100 umbrellas covered in gold and silver metallic fabric.

This year, the tree will utilise interactive technology in a nod to Burberry’s innovative approach to fashion. It will incorporate thousands of lights with motion senses, which will be programmed to sparkle as guests approach the tree.

The umbrellas will also be programmed to move. Bailey was inspired by the playfulness of the season, the British weather and the iconic Burberry trench coat, which was first introduced to the market in 1856.

The fashion house will also provide Claridge’s with Burberry-clad bellboys, who will help guests with their Christmas shopping lists. Temporary residents of the hotels suites will also receive Burberry trench coats.

Thomas Kochs, general manager at Claridges, said: "We are particularly proud to be flying the British flag this year, with London being at the heart of both Claridge’s and Burberry. We hope our annual tradition will continue to be a part of our guests’ memories."

It is the sixth year Claridge’s has enlisted a designer to create its tree. inspired by their childhoods in the woods.
