The winning flavour - which tastes like egg and beans - received 232,336 votes or almost 22% the votes cast via the Walkers' website, SMS, facebook, mobile and email. It will now become a permanent flavour and the inventor, Emma Rushin from Belper, Derbyshire wins a £50,000 prize and 1% of future sales.

Do us a flavour' kicked off in July 2008, when Walkers challenged consumers to invent a brand new crisp flavour. The nationwide search received over 1.2 million entries from the British and Irish public. The six finalist flavours were then selected by chief judge Heston Blumenthal and a panel of judges from Walkers.

The drive was supported by a TV ad campaign created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO which featured Walkers brand ambassador Gary Lineker.

Votes for remaining finalist flavours were as follows:

  • Onion Bhaji - 221,032 votes
  • Fish & Chips - 218,270 votes
  • Crispy Duck & Hoisin - 176,184 votes
  • Cajun Squirrel - 116,777 votes
  • Chilli & Chocolate - 114,775 votes
