BT has launched a TV ad designed to convey the breadth of content available on BT TV for all generations of consumers.

The 60-second ad, created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, is about a boy called Luke and his grandmother and how TV reinforces their bond, both on the sofa and in their daily lives by re-enacting scenes from favourite films and programmes including Peppa Pig and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In the opening scene, Luke and his grandmother are at the playground, where they perform a muddy puddle-splashing scene from Peppa Pig. The action cuts to the pair sitting at home watching TV.

Luke is next seen being dropped off at school. "May the force be with you," says his grandmother referencing Star Wars, before the boy appears to open the (automated) school gate using his Jedi powers.

The ad cuts to years later when Luke's grandmother is in hospital and he uses the force to raise her bed. "May the force be with you," he says to her as she's wheeled off for an operation.

The final scene shows Luke taking his grandmother home, and the two of them smiling and laughing in front of the TV.

"Great TV brings us closer together," a voiceover says. "So BT has entertainment everyone can enjoy. Be there. BT."

Media was planned and bought by Maxus. The ad was directed by Mark Albiston through Sweetshop. Paul Brazier was the creative director, the copywriter was Toby Allen and the art director was Jim Hilson.
