BSkyB appoints Nasser and Rebuck to board

LONDON - BSkyB has confirmed that former Ford chief executive Jac Nasser and Gail Rebuck, chief executive of publisher Random House, are to join its board as non-executive board members.

Bertelsmann-owned Random House is the biggest publishing house in the UK and a rival to Harper Collins, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation -- the company that owns 37% of BSkyB.

Nasser, an Australian, left Ford last year under a cloud after taking the heat for many of the motor company's problems. He was replaced by Bill Ford Jr, the great grandson of Henry Ford, founder of the company.

BSkyB announced this morning that it posted a pre-tax profit for the quarter to September 30 of £14m, compared with a loss of £89m for the same period last year.

Shares in the company were down by 9.5p or 1.59% at 589.5p, with a general slump across the market.
