
According to a BSI statement, the company has been experiencing a marked reduction in its booking volumes since November last year.
BSI was unable to confirm the exact number of redundancies, but a spokesperson has disputed an alleged 80 as "inaccurate".
It is currently consulting with staff throughout its offices in Taunton, Cheadle and Nottingham, and exploring cost reductions and changes to working practices to reduce redundancy levels.
"My entire management team is making strenuous efforts to minimise the human impact of events that are, to a large degree, beyond our immediate control," said BSI managing director Trevor Elswood.
