Brooke takes on expanded Discovery UK role

LONDON - Discovery Networks International has promoted Dan Brooke to the position of executive vice-president and managing director, Discovery Networks UK.

Reporting to Greg Ricca, president and chief executive, Discovery Networks International, Brooke will oversee Discovery's portfolio of 11 brands in the UK, such as Discovery Channel, Discovery Real Time, Discovery Turbo and DMAX.

Brooke was appointed general manager, Discovery Networks UK, in July 2005. Under his tenure, Discovery Networks UK launched Discovery Knowledge and Discovery Turbo in 2007, and DMAX, the company's first general entertainment channel in the market, in January this year.

Brooke joined Discovery from Channel 4, where he served in a variety of executive roles, most recently as controller of the broadcaster's digital channels.
