British Paralympians star in first Channel 4 ad-funded Shorts series on linear TV

Seven British Paralympians will star in the first ad-funded show on Channel 4 to receive linear broadcasting.

Created in partnership with Allianz Insurance, the Shorts series Dare to Believe shares stories of the athletes journey to the Games, showing their training programmes and the moments that changed their lives.

It features powerlifter Ali Jawad, wheelchair racer Hannah Cockroft, equestrian rider Natasha Baker, wheelchair tennis player Jordanne Whiley, footballer Jack Rutter, paratriathlete Lauren Steadman and runner Georgie Hermitage.

The eight-part show, which was produced by Boomerang, launches on 11 July and will also be available on All 4, the video-on-demand platform.

Previous ad-funded Shorts series, such as Driven to Distraction sponsored by Aviva, have featured on All 4 but not on linear TV.

Allianz Insurance is the official core sponsor of the Paralympic Games on Channel 4. The deal, brokered by MediaCom, was announced in February.

David Keel, head of communications at Allianz Insurance, said: "We believe that these inspirational films will give viewers a fascinating insight into the lives of these top para athletes and the moment when they ‘Dared to Believe’.

"With the Paralympics fast-approaching we are tremendously excited about this campaign and, of course, the Games themselves."
