TV ads, created by CHI & Partners, centre on the theme that 'your home is your home' and show a series of houses depicted as individual planets.
The work aims to illustrate how British Gas has become greener by building wind farms as an alternative energy source. The TV push will be supported by national press, outdoor, radio and online work.
British Gas is running similar 'planet' ad activity in the press, promoting its 'here to help' programme to its elderly and vulnerable customers.
In 2007 the company announced it was to invest £1.5bn in wind farms over five years, including six sites around Britain. One of these, off the Lincolnshire coast, is the world's biggest offshore wind farm project. It was completed at the end of 2008. Parent company Centrica plans to invest £750m in sustainable energy over the same period, while a spokesman said that £1bn would be spent annually on new sources of energy supply and storage.
Separately, British Gas is reviewing its digital business, currently held by OgilvyOne and LBi. The energy firm said CHI & Partners' position would not be affected.
The review follows British Gas' appointment of former HBOS marketer Rick Vlemmiks as its marketing director. He replaced Chris Jansen who was promoted to strategy and commercial director.
