Britain's Got Talent acts could struggle say event experts

Britain's Got Talent (BGT) acts have got a shelf life of one year, but during that first 12 months could command up to 拢40k a performance, according to three event entertainment agencies.

BGT winners dance troupe Diversity, provided they are available for corporate events, could earn £20k to £40k a show, said Sternberg Clarke director Adam Sternberg.

But despite a lot of support and enthusiasm for novelty dance act Stavros Flatley, the event industry suggests it could be difficult for most of the acts to secure any enduring success.

"Many have just one year to capitalise on their fame before the next series of BGT comes on air and the next unlikely star is born," said Young Guns director Dominic Lyon.

Young Guns worked with BGT, giving the show access to current chart act Escala, and Lyon is in no doubt the show will have a positive effect on the acts.

"Susan Boyle will become a number one selling artist despite the fact that she was beaten in the final. The publicity surrounding Susan Boyle has been immense and as a personality, she has captured the imaginations of the US market," said Lyon. "This will be translated into album sales, sponsorship deals, tours and bookings.  Diversity's final performance was thrilling and the choreography exceptional."

Private Drama Events director Adam Blackwood agreed that Diversity will do well in the event industry.

"Their originality, enthusiasm and the feeling of a strong family group are very winning and their ability to create different brands humorously within a routine will put them in a very good position to get advertising, PR and corporate work," said Blackwood. "Not since the Pilobolus dance troupe performed at the Oscars in 2007 have I seen something created with such flair and precision."

Blackwood said he could see "any number" of opportunities for the champions with his firm.
