Breakfast briefing: Snoop Dogg to host Adidas sports show, VW to start recall process in New Year

Snoop Dogg to host Adidas sports show

Adidas is making rapper Snoop Dogg into a sports talk show host.

The brand is sponsoring and organising an eight-episode online series called ‘Turf’d Up’ in the run-up to American Football showcase event Super Bowl 50, which takes place in February.

Snoop, who has had a long working relationship with Adidas and was named its director of football development earlier this year, will interview big names such as Antonio Pierce and Terrell Owens.

VW to start recall process in New Year

Volkswagen will start the recall process for UK owners of diesel cars affected by its emissions cheating software in January.

It will invite owners of two-litre engines to its dealerships first, then owners of 1.2-litre engines in the spring. It claims both can be fixed in no longer than half an hour with a software update that can be done alongside a routine service.

Cars with 1.6-litre engines require both a software update and a €10 plastic tube, known as a "flow transformer", and will start to be fixed from September, with the work expected to take less than an hour.

"We’re offering solutions, technical solutions, that do not impact the performance of our cars," claimed Matthias Müller, VW chief executive, in a press conference last week. "If they do, that impact will be marginal and negligible. You won’t be able to feel it."
