Brand Manager of the Week: Thuy Nguyen

Brand manager, FrieslandCampina (Yazoo)

Describe yourself in three words.

Enthusiastic, loyal and happy.

What would you be if you weren't a brand manager?

A photographer for National Geographic, or I'd work in consumer research.

What advice would you give someone starting their marketing career?

Work for a brand you love and trust your instincts, although don't get your personal preference confused with doing the right thing for the brand.

What attracted you to your job?

I love how Yazoo's quirky personality has been brought to life in the recent TV campaign.

What was your first job?

I had the usual part-time jobs but, memorably, worked in a psychiatric hospital where the cutlery was plastic and I was given a panic button within five minutes of being there.

What was your finest hour?

Implementing a social-media programme when I worked at McCain Foods.

If you were a brand what would you be and why?

Cath Kidston - distinctive, bright and girly.

What is your favourite ever marketing campaign?

Honda 'Cog'; that the product was integral to the creative is a marketing dream.

What is your all-time favourite slogan?

'J'adore Dior.'

If you weren't you, who would you be?

Michael McIntyre.

What makes you angry?

People who don't take responsibility to make their life the best it can be.

What's your favourite holiday destination?

I'm planning my second trip to Marbella for this summer.

If you could get tickets to any event, what would it be?

I already have tickets to one of the greatest shows on earth - the beach volleyball at the Olympics this summer.

However, tickets to see Coldplay would be nice.

If you had three wishes, what would they be?

To become excellent at anything I take up, to be able to fly, and to stop people being negative.
