Brand manager of the week: Dearbhla Mac Fadden, Brand manager, JML Group

- Describe yourself in three words.

Ambitious, enthusiastic, optimistic.

- What would you be if you weren't a brand manager?

I would own a cupcake shop. Sadly, I am not a domestic goddess so I would hire a fantastic baker so I could drink tea and eat cake with my customers all day.

- What attracted you to your current job?

Working on innovative products every day and managing young brands with an exceptionally talented creative team.

- What hobbies do you have?

I love travelling and have just come back from Asia. During the week, I play tennis and do yoga. I also like to ski in the winter.

- What's your favourite holiday destination?

The south of France for amazing food, wine and sunshine.

- What makes you angry?

People who have a negative outlook on life.

- What advice would you give someone starting their marketing career today?

- Don't be afraid to take chances and ask questions. Work very hard, with a smile on your face, and make sure you understand the business strategy.

- What is your favourite ever marketing campaign?

I'm a big fan of integrated marketing campaigns. Last year's Old Spice work proves how successful traditional and social media can be together. Irish brand Barry's Tea is also a great example of TV advertising, online and experiential campaigns creating synergy.

- What is your all-time favourite slogan?

'A diamond is forever.'

- What have been your best and worst freebies?

I'm happy to accept all freebies. However, the worst was definitely tickets to see Nickelback.

- What marketing trend currently dominates your job?

Social media becoming more mainstream. Twitter, Facebook and apps are playing an essential role in developing strategic marketing plans.

- If you could get tickets to any event, what would it be?

The Masters golf tournament at Augusta, so I could take my dad.

- If you had three wishes, what would they be?

To be healthy, wealthy and wise.

- What headline would you most like to read in Marketing?

'Mantis and Shark named as joint number-one brands in the world.'
