LONDON - Barack Obama has his work cut out to improve America's image but is already taking steps in the right direction according to members of the public interviewed in the latest Brand Republic video -- watch it now.

Following Barack Obama's inauguration as the 44th president of the US, Brand Republic took to the streets to find out how many people were watching and what steps they think he needs to take to improve America's image.

Everyone interviewed watched at least some of Obama's inauguration whether on TV, via a live stream on the internet or through highlights on the evening news.

It was covered extensively on the internet through live-streams, blogs, and by Twitter and Facebook members, in what has been described as a seminal moment for social media.

The public's suggestions for ways to improve the image of the US in the rest of the world included bringing home the troops from Iraq, tackling gun crime and making America less insular and more aware of the rest of the world.

Some people highlighted Obama's order to close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp as a promising step in the right direction for the US.
