Last week, Tesco's annual results showed that it had passed the £1bn sales per week milestone and achieved the highest profits to date for a UK retailer. Brand Republic took to the streets to find out if everyone loves Tesco and what attracts them to the store.
The majority of the people interviewed shop regularly in Tesco because of its "competitive prices" and the variety of products available, including household goods and clothes, as well as food.
However, a couple of people were opposed to large 24-hour supermarkets like Tesco, which they argued took away trade from the high street and smaller family-run businesses.
: "At a time when customers everywhere are feeling the economic strain, we are responding to their changing needs in all our markets by lowering prices, introducing more affordable products and offering even sharper promotions."
Tesco is moving forward with its Discounter range of own brand products, which were introduced last year. It is currently rolling out the concept to its European stores.
