BR Video: Consumers not put off internet shopping despite postal strike

LONDON - Royal Mail strike action is an inconvenience but is not affecting most people's internet and catalogue shopping plans, according to members of the public in the latest BR Video.

We asked people in south west London whether the Royal Mail disruptions were affecting their internet and catalogue shopping, and if they had a contingency plan to get round the problem.

People had noticed their mail was taking longer to get through but were generally as concerned about post from the Inland Revenue and how late their postman arrived as they were about getting purchases delivered.

One woman said because the service had got slower she had decided to go to a shop rather than buying online. She also said that due to the delays she would be happy to pay extra to get purchases sent by guaranteed delivery.

However, most people's minds were more on the pain of sending items through the post themselves and less on the need to make changes to their online shopping plans.
