The festival took place outside The Tetley in Leeds on 25 and 26 May and featured appearances from TV favourites Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam. However a group was created on Facebook on 27 May, encouraging disappointed guests to claim a refund for tickets.
An online forum was also started up on Mumsnet on 26 May to discuss the event’s shortcomings. Complaints were made about the health and safety of the site, which reportedly boasted uneven surfaces and tripping hazards, as well as hidden costs, unhealthy food on offer and aggressive staff.
Simon Doherty, a parent who attended Boomerang Jam, told Event: "I spoke to someone at the event about getting a refund. They stonewalled me and then gave me £10 on the day saying it was enough. Once I complained further, security chased me and my family out of the event and out of the car park."
The organiser issued a statement on the Boomerang Jam website apologising for the failure of the event and asking guests to email for a refund.
It added: "Individuals in our team have been the target of personal attacks both online and offline. They have been frightened and upset. They are working really hard to make sure that everyone receives a positive outcome, please allow them to do so without intrusion or threat."
