The online movies, which follow on from 2001's Clive Owen-starring series 'The Hire', promote the Z4 in an unconventional way on the website. Rather than being the focus of the films, as in most car commercials, the car is simply part of the action in a short movie.
It is the second year in a row that Fallon has won with BMW internet films, having won last year for the 'The Hire' series, which was directed by luminaries such as the late John Frankenheimer ('Grand Prix', 'Ronin), Ang Lee ('Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and the forthcoming 'Hulk') and Guy Ritchie ('Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels').
This year's series also starred Owen and comprised three films, 'Hostage', directed by John Woo ('Face/Off', 'Windtalkers'); 'Ticker', directed by Joe Carnahan ('Narc'); and 'Beat the Devil', directed by advertising legend and 'Top Gun and 'True Romance' director Tony Scott. The films were produced for Fallon Minneapolis by Scott and brother Ridley's commercials outfit RSA.
'Beat the Devil', which also stars soul legend James Brown, Gary Oldman and Goth rocker Marylin Manson, made the transition from the internet to UK cinemas in March, supporting films such as 'The Life of David Gale' and 'Welcome to Colinwood'.
