BMP DDB has launched an interactive television ad agency, BMPTVi,

in partnership with its media operation, OMD UK, and new-media arm,

BMPinteraction.

BMPTVi has signed Sony as its first client and its first ad will appear

across NTL’s TV-internet, digital cable and digital terrestrial

platforms.

BMP DDB is only the second UK ad agency to launch an interactive

television unit after Grey Advertising.

BMPTVi is being headed by the managing director, Andrew Howells, who was

previously a director of BMP’s new-media company Bilco. He is joined by

the creative director, Chris Jenkins, and the technology director, Chris

Lowe.

Howells said: ’Sony wanted to be in early on interactive TV ads to get

early learning and an early advantage. There is a lot of client

interest. The interesting thing is that the clients are ready but we are

not sure the agencies are. I think that is good for BMPTVi because we

are certainly ready.’
