BMG Records to back Pink single with game

BMG Records is to push the latest single from R&B pop star Pink with an online game as part of a wider campaign.

Ahead of the 16 September release of the single Just Like a Pill, BMG will both email the game to fans and host a version on the Pink section of its artists' web site, click2music.co.uk.

Created by design agency Holler, the game features Pink as a Lara Croft-style heroine in a scrolling platform game.

Players take on the role of Pink as she runs through landscapes that mirror scenes from the video. BMG hopes players will pass it on to friends.

Users will also be able to download exclusive Pink desktop sounds, wallpapers and enter a draw.

Gary McKee, new-media co-ordinator, pop and R&B, at BMG, said: "We are using the game to build a database of Pink fans that we can use in the future. Pink has a lot of technology savvy teenage fans who enjoy games."

James Kirkham, creative director at Holler, said: "It's a challenge to bridge the gap between very young users and teens, but the game is fun and will hopefully appeal to all fans."

The Pink campaign is the first Holler has worked on for BMG, although it is involved in ongoing projects for record labels including Universal and Sony.
