The stunt, which took place last Friday (15 August) on Blackpool beach between the central and north piers, featured an 18-metre-high, orange and white beach ball.
The oversized ball took a team of nine people and 90 minutes to inflate, measuring 2,134 cubic metres. It beat the existing world record, which was set in May 2012 by a Polish supermarket group for a ball measuring 15.82 metres.
Bloon managed the stunt as part of the Blackpool’s Back campaign, which features a national television campaign funded by Blackpool Council and Merlin Entertainment. The campaign has been conceived in a bid to change the way people think of Blackpool as a holiday destination.
