It’s been an eventful few months since my placement began back in July 2015. I’ve worked my way around three different teams: Congress, Production and Live Logistics. The teams have all been really helpful and given me a real insight into what each department of WRG does and how they all link together.

One of the highlights is working onsite at live events. I’ve worked with a variety of clients including pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca and hair and beauty brand Wella.  Working onsite allows you to see how all the months of hard planning are put into action. I love working as part of a team; you all muck in to make sure the show is a complete success – no task is too big or too small. It’s a great experience and there’s nothing like delivering an event to teach you how to think on your feet.

One of the best things about my placement at WRG was the flexibility to explore different areas of events, to see where I thrive and which areas I find the most challenging. I discovered that I really enjoy working with the logistics team.

Going for the job

Not long after that, a permanent role came up within that team. Before I applied for the job I spoke to family and friends to see what they thought – being relatively new to the industry I wanted to feel like I was making an informed decision.  So I applied for the job. The selection process was really thorough, which only confirmed that logistics was what I really wanted to do. I just didn’t want the opportunity to slip through my fingers.

After a nerve-racking wait, I was absolutely over the moon to be offered the role and I am now a month in to my new job. There’s a lot to learn but I’m taking it in my stride and couldn’t be happier. The team is fantastic and has made the transition into this new role really easy for me. I’m getting my teeth into some meaty projects and I’m looking forward to the live delivery in the New Year – 2016 is definitely going to be an amazing year!
