blinkx announces raft of new partnerships

LONDON - blinkx, the world's largest video search engine, has announced 28 new partnerships with special interest media companies.

In doing so, the firm expanded its index of searchable video content into new genres and categories, and extended the diversity of its video offering.
Among the new partners were Cycling TV and Wedding TV, two broadband television channels with specialized web offerings. blinkx also recently signed an agreement with Eye Music Network, a website featuring more than 3,500 hours of music videos.
“The democratization of media is one of the most exciting possibilities of the Web – the idea that people with common interests can build a community, regardless of their physical location,” said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. “blinkx is helping to deliver on that promise by indexing the broadest variety of video content on the Web today, and making it easier for everyone – from bikers to brides-to-be – to find material that appeals to their specific interests.”
blinx, which is based in San Francisco and London, now boasts over 14m hours of searchable content.
