Inspired by the art pianos all over London, Heineken-owned brand Blind Pig Cider has installed the DJ decks with the aim of blurring musical genres and stereotypes by allowing any passers-by to have a go at mixing their own tracks.
The booth comes with ready-made tracks, which span all manner of decades and genres to inspire mixes that include a range of musical styles. The decks include step-by-step instructions, and any visitors on launch day will be treated to one-on-one lessons from expert DJs.
Emma Sherwood Smith from Blind Pig Cider said: "The world of DJing is beset with rules - such as don’t approach the DJ or make requests, and absolutely never touch the hardware. But we’re actively asking people to do exactly that."
The booth is open from 12-14 October, 11am - 8pm. DJ lessons will be available on a first-come-first-served basis and are being conducted by female DJ duo Glitter Beats today, with DJ David Beiger taking over tomorrow.
Blind Pig Cider are also hosting a tasting session inside a shipping container at Protein Studios, Shoreditch on 15 October, as well as a club night later that evening at a secret location somewhere in East London.
with a pink tractor sampling tour around central London, and in Sheffield, which included sets from the UK's coolest DJs.
