Box office ticket sales in the UK have hit around 83m in the first half of the year. The CAA has attributed this to consumers looking to save money and the number of blockbusters launching this year.
June saw an increase of 5.6% on the previous year with 12.5m ticket sales with 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' proving, the most popular film, taking £17m.
This year's first half figures are the biggest since 2002 when ticket sales reached 87m. Films that year included 'Spider-Man', 'Monsters Inc' and 'Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones'.
So far films such as 'Star Trek', 'Terminator Salvation', 'Bolt' and 'The Hangover' have buoyed this year’s cinema figures.
Upcoming films for the second half include James Camerson’s 3D film 'Avatar', 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' and '2012'.
The CAA's figures follows which showed box office taking had risen by 19% in the 17 weeks preceding April 17. While in March the found admissions had risen 1.1% to 164.2m in 2008 with sales rising 3.7%.
Fleur Castell, head of marketing at Digital Cinema Media, said that it was Hollywood's continued investment in film that was ensuring cinema remains the quality broadcast channel for advertisers.
In 2008 commercial impacts for cinema were up 1.1% year on year to 164.2m and 2009 Castell said was looking even better with impacts for January to March up 16.3% year on year to 70,982,917.
Castell said: "That's the equivalent of filling the 02 Arena 3,550 times. This is due to a fantastic slate of films such as 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'Monsters vs Aliens' and 'Fast & Furious', which have appealed to a broad range of audiences."
