The move, which has been orchestrated with cinema chain Curzon Artificial Eye, was unveiled by HMV chief executive Simon Fox who said the concept could be rolled to any of the group's larger properties including Waterstones stores.
HMV will brand the cinemas HmvCurzon. To drive footfall into the shop floor they will only be accessible through stores during opening hours but will have a dedicated entrance for the evening.
According to Curzon, the content is likely to be similar to the niche or "arthouse" movies shown in its own cinema chain and will include screenings for schools and parents with young children.
Curzon is currently running the Armando Iannuci satire 'In the Loop' and political thriller 'State of Play'.
The Wimbledon cinema will launch in the autumn.
In addition to films, HMV is looking at showing live sporting events and music concerts at the venue.
