Four divisions of the Big Group will work on : interactive, media, PR and production. The agency is charged with redesigning the website and conducting a national advertising campaign to encourage schools to get involved. There will also be a national and regional PR campaign.
Parents Online is run by the Department for Education and Skills, and aims to increase parents' awareness of the educational benefits of the internet and inform them about online safety.
A spokesperson for the DfES said: "More than 600 new Parents Online events were held across the UK last year, ranging from yoga classes to children's internet breakfasts and cyber sessions. We want to build on that success and the Big Group's involvement is pivotal to us achieving our objectives."
The Home Office has also conducted campaigns to promote the safety of children online, with a television ad campaign created by Ogilvy & Mather.
