Beckham's clothing range dropped by Marks & Spencer

LONDON - David Beckham's DB07 clothing range is to be dropped by Mark & Spencer following a clear-out by chief executive, Stuart Rose.

Other brands expected to go are the sportswear label View From and menswear label Blue Harbour.

The move, which also includes selling off the group's financial services business and taking full control of the womenswear brand Per Una, comes after Philip Green's 拢9.1bn bid to buy the ailing retailer. Two days after the clear-out plans were announced, Green withdrew his offer.

David Beckham signed a 拢10m deal with Marks & Spencer two years ago to advertise the new line. The deal covered seven ranges -- the last of which is due to hit stores late next year

The England football captain has lost some of his popularity since moving to Real Madrid and missing a crucial penalty against Portugal in the Euro 2004 semi-finals. His 拢1m contract with Vodafone is also believed under negotiation.
