Bebo set to launch exclusive web comedy

LONDON - Social networking site Bebo is to launch an exclusive made-for-web comedy, Chelsey: OMG on its website later this month. Watch the trailer.

Building on the success of KateModern and Sofia's Diary, Bebo has developed a commissioning and scheduling policy to step up its investment in original content.

Working with TV production company Channel X, the company behind comedies including Shooting Stars, Jonathan Ross and Blunder, Chelsey: OMG will be the first Bebo original programme to branch out from drama, ahead of six new productions in 2009.

Following the life of precocious, affluent Californian teenager Chelsey Pucks, the fictional show uses reality-based hidden camera segments as she heads on a road trip to Britain.

Chelsey: OMG sits within the Bebo Originals channel - the equivalent of a television broadcaster's original commission with the support and promotion of the Bebo network.

Other new Bebo entertainment channels include third-party productions and Open Media productions, where conventional broadcasters including the BBC and Channel 4 will allow shows to be aired on Bebo.
