EMI Music, Harrisongs and Sony/ATV Music Publishing have also agreed to make the Beatles' music available in interactive video game format. The game will appear on retailer shelves next year.
The 'Rock Band' series has proved very popular with games console owners. In it, players take up simplified versions of musical instruments, from guitars to drums, and a microphone. They then "perform" songs according to on-screen prompts, while their musical efforts are mixed into the game's audio.
The Beatles game has the full backing of and input from Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr; as well as the widows of George Harrison and John Lennon - Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono Lennon.
Giles Martin, the son of The Beatles' producer George Martin and the co-producer of The Beatles' 'Love' project, is producing the musical aspect of the game.
McCartney said: "The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music. I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out."
Starr, who recently posted a video on his website warning that people should not send him any more fan mail, said: "The Beatles continue to evolve with the passing of time and how wonderful that The Beatles' legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerized world we live in. Let the games commence."
This summer Guns 'N Roses agreed that the first track from their long-delayed new album would be released via 'Rock Band 2' in September.
The original 'Rock Band' has sold 2.5m copies and brought in extra revenue from downloads, with more than 15m have sold at $1.99 each. The game is available on Playstation 3, Xbox and Wii consoles.
