BBC rapped for 'bondage' dance on Top of the Pops

LONDON - BBC has been rapped by Ofcom for a performance by the boy band Phixx on 'Top of the Pops' after complaints that the programme contained sexual and violent overtones.

Eight people complained to Ofcom about the performance, broadcast on November 7. Most mentioned the violent overtones of the performance, which showed hitting, hair pulling and the use of chains around men's chests, but some were also concerned that children could imitate the moves and end up strangled.

The BBC agreed with complaints that the routine was unsuitable for children. Ofcom said that it considered it unsuitable for inclusion in the programme.

In a separate complaint, the radio station Dream 107.7 was deemed in breach of regulations after broadcasting an interview in which the presenter said "fucking c**t". The station said that the interview was pre-recorded but that it had not been edited properly.

Only one listener complained about the item, which went out at 6 o'clock in the evening.
